Bolinas California Wedding | Marthine & Puneeth

Marthine and Puneeth’s Bolinas California wedding reception was so much fun! These two were married in early January, then had a big family celebration in India, and finally with Marthine’s local family and friends in Bolinas! This town is so amazing and tiny. We fell in love with this sleepy little place, and the lovely, warm people we met there! Congratulations to Marthine & Puneeth!

We adore these two and their love story.  Here is Marthine & Puneeth’s story, in Marthine’s own words:

Our story: My fiance and I met in graduate school in Santa Barbara. We had a mutual friend who invited me out with his friends to a great bar that looks like your aunt’s rec room in the ’60s. I apparently impressed my fiance Puneeth with my pool shark skills, while he definitely impressed me by having at least started reading Ulysses by James Joyce (I was getting my PhD in Irish literature, he was getting his in physics). I gave him my number, but didn’t quite remember his name (it’s tricky!), but a couple days later he asked me for coffee (I don’t drink coffee, but I had two that day), which turned into a four hour date that ended with french toast — yum! I grew up in a hippie town in coastal California of about 2000 people; my fiance’s family lives in Bangalore, India, and he grew up there and in Queens, NYC. So we’ve ended up in Berkeley, the most urban hippie town we could find.
My fiance loves records and requested all of Outkast on vinyl for Christmas. We have the same favorite Bob Dylan song (Corrina Corrina), and the same favorite drink, which is also my grandfather’s drink (the Manhattan). We were introduced by a high school friend of mine at a bar in Santa Barbara that served only wine and beer and looked like your aunt’s rec room from the ’60s. Puneeth asked for my number after I was an awesome partner when we played pool (see pic from the day we met). We love Blackadder and Game of Thrones, and we watch Jeopardy religiously and compete to see who gets more right answers (I kill in literature, he kills in geography). Despite the fact that he’s the Indian, I love Bollywood movies and he can’t stand them — he loves sci fi movies instead!
Two weeks after we met, I left town for Paris and Australia. The day after I got back six weeks later, he left for India and Switzerland for six months. I told him he didn’t have to commit with all the long distance coming up; he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I happily agreed.
Some of my favorite moments are
– When I caught him cuddling my roommate’s 3 pound yorkie
– When he brought over home-made ice cream for us to eat and watch a movie, and then he ate most of it (I’m not so into ice cream).
– When I got a stomach virus the night before my grad school graduation, and he held me as I was sick all night
– When he proposed by finally accepting the (half-joking) proposals I’d been sending his way for a few years) by quoting the last lines of Ulysses: “Yes I said yes I will yes.”
